One of the last things most people think about when planning a trip to Paris is grabbing something like a falafel, but these are soooo goooOOOoooood! But now that the weather is warming up, it’s time to leave the heavy, comfort foods behind and transition on to more fresher, lighter and healthier alternatives. It’s not a bad time, either, to think about more exercise and perhaps losing those extra pounds that somehow accumulated on your hips (and butt!) during the winter. For an inexpensive, kosher, vegetarian (they have meat dishes too), delish Middle Eastern meal, L’As du Fallafel (Falafel Ace) is a must for your itinerary. I will be in Paris really soon L’As du Fallafel is in the very heart of Le Marais, the 4th arrondissement, which is one of the coolest districts in Paris. There you can also find excellent deli’s and funky shops (many are open on Sundays). L’As du Fallafel |

Falafels are yum. Damn you, now I NEED to eat one. Maybe Ankar’s for lunch today…
Comment by Angry B 05.04.06 @ 10:23 amthey are yum and these are the yummiest ever.
at least your place is within driving distance. i have to take a 3 hour train ride to get a falafel!
Comment by ptinfrance 05.04.06 @ 11:05 amBoo-urns. That is too far even for a good falafel.
I did go to Ankars for lunch. Falafel and onion rings. Life is good.
Comment by Angry B 05.04.06 @ 1:07 pmit is far but i can consolidate my errands by shopping in paris for stuff i can’t find near me like masa harina and mexican food ingredients, as well as some good asian stuff and get some good chocolate and pastries – since i’m there i might as well.
It is very good, but busy! if you want a table be prepared to wait. It wasn’t incredible which i was surprised about. But if you’ve grown up in Brooklyn… maybe i’m falafel spoilt. Here we’ve even got falafel pizza! They do sell Prigat drinks – try a pear or strawberry banana – the best in the world!
Comment by teri 05.07.06 @ 9:08 pmif the falafels are better in brooklyn, i want a falafel in brooklyn!! specific recommendations in brooklyn?
Comment by ptinfrance 05.08.06 @ 2:34 ami don’t live in Brooklyn anymore,.. so i dont remember those haunts but if you’re ever in Jersey (out fo the ones i’ve been to) – Jerusalem Pizza makes really good falafel.. (they’re in Highland Park). It’s a bit of a schlep from me now (and from Brooklyn) though…
Chowhound’s kosher board might have some recommendations though….
Comment by teri 05.09.06 @ 5:55 pmthanks teri. i actually do go to jersey to see my sister in usr which is pretty much far from many things so a schlep would be in order esp for good falafels.
