They’re calling this movie a “docu-funny” and oh please I hope it is. The movie title, “Dans La Peau de Jacques Chirac” means, “Being Jacques Chirac” and was just released yesterday. I guess I missed the news because I was at a BBQ freezing my arse off.

I gotta see it.

When I see Chirac on T.V., I just start to laugh; his gestures, speech and basically everything about him are so, well, ridiculous and cartoonesque. Did anyone see when he was at a soccer game pretending to be calling out the players names with everyone else? He had no idea what the players’ names were. omg. I almost peed in my pants.

Back to the movie. Dans La Peau de Jacques Chirac is 90 minutes of satirical hilarity completely made up of archival television footage during the nearly 40 years Chirac has served in public office: as minister, prime minister, Paris mayor and president. He is a walking, talking human comedy.

I like what the newspaper Libération calls all the attention being paid to Chirac (he also has a book out). They call the phenomenon, “Chiracophobia: the new national sport.”
