All the surfer dudes, famous and not so famous, have been following since, and it's become one of the top surf destinations. The world championships are held there. Biarritz itself is not the best spot (and best looking beach): there's plenty of fantastic surfing gems up (Anglet, Hossegor, ...) and down (Hendaye, St. Jean de Luz, Guéthary, Bidart, ...) Definitely worth a trip! My husband is a total sufer dude and, in September 2003, we drove up the Basque coast from the Spanish border up to les Landes, checking every surf spot: it was fantastic! We even got an "insider's map" with the best spots, breaks points and swell periods. I have a particularly found memory of Hossegor and its Hôtel de la Plage... This is so cool!
