Does this sign, tourisme seulement (tourism only), mean that only tourists can use that parking lot? We are always so baffled when we see this sign.

I love that you find all those cute signs
Could it mean it is only for bus tours
?
That’s how I would understand it, ie. if you’re a “villageois” and want to do your local shopping, you have to park elsewhere; and this special tourist parking probably provides for bus/coach space.
Comment by LA Frog 08.25.06 @ 10:11 amthat makes sense! (but my s.o. doesn’t think that parking can accommodate buses.)
Comment by ptinfrance 08.26.06 @ 1:45 amI think s.o. is right… In fact, they probably refer on this sign to all the “vehicules de tourisme”. And in fact, those are the “Véhicules de tourisme motorisés à quatre roues, familiales ou fourgonnettes conçus pour être utilisés sur les voies publiques et assujettis à l’immatriculation.”
So this carpark is for everything with 4 wheels, and not for buses. Sometimes, the buses can park closer than the cars, sometimes further, it depends ![]()
And yes, sometimes in France, you really have to park in specific spots when you are a tourist, and pay for it when all the rest of the town’s car park are free of charge, but this is in Corsica
How about… “Toutes Directions”?
That’s when you KNOW you will get lost is some strange town… LOL
