breast milk cheese singly france

Oftentimes you come to the logical realization that life is stranger than fiction, even stranger than the fiction from your most oddball, esoteric films. This farm is so strange that I have to believe it really exists – though, my first thought was that it’s a hoax.

Le Petit Singly is a farm that specializes in making cheese from women’s breast milk. Are you imagining the milking process? Admittedly, that imagery makes me come to the conclusion that it’s an absolutely bizarre and crazy world of cheesemaking in little ole Singly, France. But, no. I think the “donors” bring their milk to the farm, or something like that.

The cheese is produced exactly like it would be for cow’s milk and apparently tastes like it has hints of hazelnut. I still have my doubts about its existence, though. The farm says the cheese is rich in vitamins and nutrients but I don’t think these survive after being ultra-pasteurized. Also, they have an “AB” label, which is the official label for organic products. Does that mean that the women all grazed on organic?

Anyway, you can order breast milk cheese online from le Petit Singly, if you’re interested. Will this be the next trend in the foodie world? You know, something on the menu at Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry (or Per Se), El Bulli or your un-run-of-the-mill experimental haute cuisine. I can hear the waiter now, “Your next course, course 5 out of 13 courses, is a palette cleanser consisting of deep fried fois gras marbles coated in a crispy fig and pine nut crumble. The fois gras marbles are fried in extra virgin Argan oil that was infused with 6 very rare and different herbs found only around the area surrounding Mount Kilamanjaro. The fois gras marbles sit proudly on their foundation of 5 paper-thin slices of exclusive fromage duh Fwahnce (“cheese” is too ordinary) made from FRENCH mother’s milk. (“breast milk” sounds too scary and thus, not very posh.) In between each slice of fromage is a succulent layer of organic creme fraiche, Beluga caviar, French capers and candied pecans – and the whole ensemble is lightly splashed with aged, vintage balsamic vinegar. Oh, and by the way, you must eat this dish wearing these 3D glasses to experience the full visual and culinary effect combined. Bon Appetit.”

Humans find their own milk disgusting? Now THAT’S weird.

Comment by MLS 06.13.07 @ 5:39 am

i think that humans find the part about making cheese out of their own milk then eating it – disgusting.

Comment by ptinfrance 06.13.07 @ 11:41 am

I don’t see any problem with this type of cheese as long as it is my wife’s produce, she is tops!

Comment by carl 01.01.08 @ 7:27 am

Here’s a marketing idea. Make a soft cheese version and squeeze it from a little plastic breasts sold in egg cartons.

Disgusting

Comment by meshmesh 04.05.08 @ 11:20 pm

Well, i googled it because i was going down a list of cheeses that i know of and then human cheese hit me and i was like i wonder if anyone makes it and then i found this and was disgusted. I would not want to eat some woman’s milk that has been aged to cheese. Disgusting!!

Comment by Meredith 04.07.08 @ 7:22 pm

Is it free range?

Comment by Zero 04.09.08 @ 12:37 pm

Easy to tell by the site being a cheesy free lycos members site and covered with ads that it’s not a real company’s web site. If you attempt order you’ll see they say it’s fake.

Comment by duh 04.09.08 @ 2:24 pm

And whose babies are going unfed so that this firm can make more money? Harriet

Comment by Harriet 04.10.08 @ 1:50 pm

Don’t you think it is weird how we regard it as “normal” for us to consumer the milk of another species but weird to consume milk from our own species (as nature obviously gave us the capability to do)?

Comment by pnutslab 04.11.08 @ 9:51 am

Funny how our culture influences us and some find this “disgusting”. If aliens were visiting the earth, they’d probably find it very strange that we drink the milk of another species (cows) and not our own.

Comment by Bret 04.11.08 @ 11:47 am

Finally! Vegans can eat tasty cheese without feeling guilty that the milk was taken against the will of an animal. Think about it. If the milk is freely offered, no qualms!!!

How bout Mac & Breast Milk Cheese!!!

Comment by Josh 04.12.08 @ 10:57 am

Ok, so it sounds really creepy. . . but why the gross out? Did everyone forget you were sucking your mama’s ta tas at one point in your life? If the imagery of human breast milk freaks you out (cuz afterall this came from some woman’s boobs, whom you have never met) how many of you would be quick to suck on a cow’s udder?

Comment by Master Nyte 04.12.08 @ 9:07 pm

I wonder if they have a range of underpant cheese for those of use that prefer a sharper taste?

Comment by loves2spooj 04.15.08 @ 11:56 pm

At you can read
about one mother’s attempt. She writes:
“It turned out that breast milk can not
curdle, because the protein content is lower,
and because the protein in breast milk is more
easily digested compared to cow’s milk. That’s
why, unmodified cow’s milk is unsuitable for
babies. And on the other hand, adding acid to
further ‘digest’ breastmilk protein won’t
curdle the milk.

“So, the moral of the story, YOU CANNOT MAKE CHEESE OUT OF BREASTMILK. Don’t even try.”

So you can believe one site, or you can
believe the other…

Comment by Frank 04.19.08 @ 3:17 pm

Let me try that URL again for the cheese
attempt story. It’s this:

Yes, but it begs the question: What wine to drink with this cheese?

Comment by Ryan 05.24.08 @ 3:57 am

THAT is a good question! i’m not sure i wanna know the answer…

Comment by ptinfrance 05.25.08 @ 1:47 pm

It is hoax.

Comment by deathcultarmageddon 06.16.08 @ 8:58 pm

I was just wondering do you all the cows that provided for that milk in you refrigerator? Cause I think drink cows milk and making cheese out of itis weird. We are human…Makes sense we would consume human milk….all you cows milk drinkers are weird…

Comment by Bri 07.05.08 @ 12:37 pm

Pass the crackers!

Comment by Parker 07.07.08 @ 11:50 am

What is “eewww” about human milk cheese? Whether you like it or not (and I bet the ones going “eeeww”" have not tried it) it can’t be less natural than consuming the stale residue of a cow’s suckle. Stop being so narrow minded, and celebrate the fact we have a choice!

Comment by Gary 08.28.08 @ 7:39 am

mmmm…..delicious

Comment by wendy 09.23.08 @ 9:12 pm

Human breast milk does not “curdle” and therefore cannot be made into cheese. This is fake.

Comment by David 10.11.08 @ 8:47 pm

Coffee creamer would be a better use for mother’s milk, it’s 54% fat.

Comment by Hua 10.12.08 @ 10:15 pm

Please pass le fromage du boob!

Comment by CheeseEater 11.29.08 @ 11:18 pm

Well I think that sounds really nice ! (I am not weird or crazy) but listen, This milk/cheese is from our own type ! we should all be encoureged to have breask cheese/milk as I hear it tastes quite sweet!

Comment by jack 12.01.08 @ 4:16 pm

I hope it’s true.
I’d love to see mass productions milk of young girls in their 25′s in a farm.

Comment by GIGA 12.17.08 @ 9:37 am

Hey, anyone for pizza?!

Comment by al 12.18.08 @ 4:49 am

I think there is only one thing to really consider.
Being that we humans have so many freedom(s). How do you insure this milk has no disease? Or does not contain anything harmful? Especially from mothers with health conditions or take medications. Other than that, I see it as no different than from a cow or goat, etc. And I would try it if it was possible. Women are gifted with these beautiful and amazing abilities. It makes me smile. :)

Comment by Lance 12.21.08 @ 4:52 am

« How do you insure this milk has no disease? Or does not contain anything harmful? Especially from mothers with health conditions or take medications. »

How many cows are fed with hormons, antibiotics, transgenic cereals ? Do you care about that when you eat cheese ?… unless you only eat no-taste ultra-pasterized “chemical” cheese (who can call that a cheese ?). Have you ever eard talking about “Roquefort”, “Camember” or “Munster” made of fresh and not pasterized milk and the way they are produced ?

Women-milk cheese DOES exists, it’s absolutly not a hoax.

Signed : a french guy, proud to be a real cheese amateur. Roquefort Rulez !

Comment by valid 12.25.08 @ 5:17 am

Can’t be any more disgusting than drinking milk and eating cheese from cows. Hell, I’d take milk products made from my own species before I go to the store and buy pesticide and pus laden cow milk. *shudder* With this stuff, its organic *laughs*, comes from your OWN species, and there won’t be nearly as pesticide laden as the cows who are abused and used past their natural capacities. And lets face it, soy cheese SUCKS. XD

Comment by Alexandria 01.06.09 @ 12:30 am

During their lifetime, humans refuse to give back to nature, depriving it. We contaminate our kitchen and bathroom wastes with toxic cleaning products before storing them. We keep our putrefying bodies out of Mother Nature’s reach by keeping them in concrete caskets to give us a fake sense of timelessness to overcome our sense of vulnerability to death. Mother Nature keeps on giving, but its generosity has its limits if we don’t return the favor. We are like parasites, living on a host, threatening to kill it by our sheer greed and numbers. I have personally seen animals that died from loss of blood to leeches, fleas, lampreys. Let’s reconnect with Nature before it’s too late.

Comment by rich 01.17.09 @ 9:29 pm

Is a woman’s milk “bad”? How about her blood? Is it “bad”? Her sweat? Is it “bad”? Or any fluid that her body produces, for that matter?

Comment by rich 01.18.09 @ 1:01 pm

i rather drink it before it had made into cheese, i wish i can use the cow’s pump and use it for woman and make a drink for my self.

Funny how it’s Frank and David who so adamantly state that breast milk cannot curdle. Have either of you ever forgotton a bottle with breastmilk in it in a diaper bag for a day or two? Obviously not, or you’d know that it does in fact curdle. And smell hor-awful! I don’t know that it can or cannot be made into cheese. It does seem natural to me for humans to consume human milk, but perhaps only their mother’s milk, and not some random woman’s. I’ve tasted my own breast milk and it’s pretty good. It’s sweet and light. Though it does have a high fat content, it’s still fairly thin, not like cows milk…well, maybe like 1-2%, but sweeter. And because it’s not homogenized, the “cream”, if you will, will separate to the top if you leave it in the fridge for a few hours.

Comment by Sarah 12.03.09 @ 1:32 pm

I had a very tasty breast milk latte not to long ago. A friend was breast feeding her son, but he had gone to stay with his grandparents for a weekend, so she pumped enough milk to last his visit. She took advantage of his vacation and went out for a few drinks on the first night. She had to keep pumping, of course, but couldn’t give the alcohol-tainted milk to her son, so I asked that she give it to me. I steamed it and added three shots of espresso and it was great. Sort of like a slightly sweet skim milk.

Comment by Eric 01.09.10 @ 4:59 pm

The people saying it’s disgusting, I think misunderstand how breast tissue makes and stores milk, view breasts as only having a sexual function and believe that cows are fresh pasterurised milk bottles with a foil covered screw cap!

Comment by Michael Ludgate 02.13.10 @ 6:48 am

I’m amused at all the people here pretending to be surprized that people are grossed out by breast milk cheese. Everyone is influenced by food taboos, and even the most “sophisficated” and “open-minded” probably have some, even if they’re pretending not to have any.

Comment by Diana 02.24.10 @ 9:04 pm

I guess that I am in the minority on this subject. I find it interesting and would be more than willing to sample mother’s milk cheese

Comment by Michelle 03.12.10 @ 5:38 pm

Even though it feels utterly inappropriate, I’d like to try.

Comment by andreja 03.31.10 @ 2:18 pm

I’d try that.

Comment by Bob 05.02.11 @ 3:13 am

While we’re talking about strange French cheeses, which may or may not be hoaxes, here’s a very well-produced video advertisement for another. (Warning, this is in the original French version).

Ladies and Gents, I did a write up about the joys of drinking breast milk over at my blog from personal experience. This should help dispel some of the myth and other knee jerk reaction to the consumption of human breast milk.
