Thank you for sharing your experiences in France. I love your blog! I found you as a result of looking for a recipe for the french walnut cake and ended up forgeting about the cake and surfing your blog! I am so happy to hear that true artisan pastery shops still exist in France. By your reaction to the shop (Daniel) I assume that the pasteries are made with real good quality natual ingredients.. .not the overly sugered and margarine stuff that i see lots where I live…Thanks again for sharing..

After reading this post the other day, I HAD to watch the documentary Wednesday on Channel 3… It was great, about 3 women: a sommeliere, a cook, and a maitre d’hotel who was competing for the MOF… I learnt that the contest is really called ‘one of the best craftmen from France’… so there are several winners every year, but I could not find out how many.. For exemple, there were 10 maitre d’hotel winning, but the contest is only once every 3 years, so it does not overcrowd the market… Too bad their website is so unuseful… I would imagine a search by department , specialty ‘patisserie’

Have you tried the chocolatier Patrick Roger? He’s in Paris. The citron vert ganache was good enough to bring a tear to my eye.

there were another one in aix en provence who was doinf pastries and ice creams. Unfortunaltly it either closed or moved to another place , but it s not there anymore.
