Not yet tried Vieux Garçon Jam? You should. It's not really jam but all sorts of fruits macerated all over the summer in brandy (eau de vie) or rum. In Germany it's called "Rumtopf".

Confiture Gratte-cul is made of the fruits of the wild rose. It's called "gratte-cul" because inside the fruit are seeds which are scratching. Very scratching! Every little girl and boy found these fruits one day in their pants.....

Sorry formy bad english.....

Grate-cul, isn't bad, the common name for the plant which the jam comes from is also gratte-cul, as for the vieux garcon jam ,never tried it, didn-t even knew it existed as a plant or jam.

Gratte cul jam, if you like it and fells like making some yourselves it shouldnt' be hard as the plant has a tendency to grows a bit everywhere so you may find a spot whee you can get a few Kgs and the reciepe should be commonly availlable.
