He got history (partially) on his side. 1983 I moved to Paris for a summer of language school. Barely out of "real" school, I hung out at all those places back then that were "Paris". Le Palace, Bain Douche and during waking hours at Cafe Costes. What a place. I had no idea who the heck he was or what "design" meant back then, but that Cafe made an impact. Yes he did design a lot of strange items or buildings, but also some real cool ones. Did you see his yacht designs? Wedge Too (conventional) and Sigma (highly unconventional)? Well. He got history (partially) on his side.
