I run a website which is dedicated to Happy Graffiti - Would you mind if we used your photo? Could you send the original over to us with permission to use it? It's the perfecttone for the site/Facebook page.

The market in Mirepoix is well worth visiting. Indeed, the whole region around Mirepoix became a centre of attention a few years back as it was here that the SEL movement started. People exchanging services with each other instead of using money. You cut my hair and I'll give you six eggs. That sort of thing. But it got severly clouted by the authorities (the URSSAF in fact) as no one was paying any tax or social security on these transactions and the State wasn't happy! Still acentre for freedom-loving souls. You can meet them still at the market.

A well-observed little post. I used to own a bar in Toulouse and can tell you a thing or two about drinks and their glasses. Each café is linked to a drinks supplier - usually owned by or associated with a brewer. The more drinks the café sells the more free glasses it gets from the supplier. But if the café sells, say, lots of beer and very little Perrier then the supplier will be reluctant to give him those nice (and expensive) Perrier glasses. Worse, if the café has a lot of student customers who just love stealing glasses to equip their studios, then the supplier may severly ration the amount of glasses he gives out free. Result: many cafés either buy cheap utility glasses without any markings or, worse, use the wrong glass with the wrong drink.
Back in the 90s I do remember people complaining about the meagre sizes of soft drink bottles (most were served in 20cl bottles) and Coca and Perrier were the first to start selling their products in 33cl bottles. But it took them a while to follow this up with distribution of 'free' 33cl glasses. Maybe this explains your 9 year penury of decent glasses?
Cheers!

Ladies and Gents, I did a write up about the joys of drinking breast milk over at my blog from personal experience. This should help dispel some of the myth and other knee jerk reaction to the consumption of human breast milk.

You are what you eat true, but how long are we going to live anyway? So just believe in what you think is right just because alot of people say has toxins in it doesn mean it does rite? We live in a world where resources are scarce and limited supply of food. If you have enough money to buy better food that do it some people are not as rich as you and are not able to buy such stuff SO it's you choice if eat it or you don't

I WAS ON A MOTORHOME RALLY IN FRANCE LAST WEEK AND WE COOKED 40 FILLETS AT OUR GET TOGETHER MEAL.
LOVELY FISH AND RECCOMENDED.
AS A RETIRED HOTELIER AND QUALIFIED CHEF I THINK COMMENTS ARE SCAREMONGERING I AM SURE THE EU WOULD
NOT ALLOW THIS FISH TO BE IMPORTED IF IT WAS NOT FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION.

Although almost all food is better in France, they do not know cheesecake! I tried it a couple times while I lived there, it was really mealy. Maybe because they don't have cream cheese (usually)? That's probably the only product I would be less likely to buy if I thought it was from France.

well to make a final point, everyone must admit that according UNESCO data, Rome has a bigger historical and artistical heritage. Paris has more tourism because have better marketing and infrastructures, but you can't compare a city with more than 400 churches (only considering those built before XIX century) and more than 1000 historical building with Paris, a city with only 160 museums, 120 churches and the vast majority of building is from XIX-XX century like, say, new york or london. UNESCO says that the world heritage area in Roma is far bigger than the one in Paris, both in terms of dimensions (Pope Urban VI walls in Rome comparing riviere de la Seine in Paris) and in terms of criteria considered. That says the official data, unarguably. The fact is that Paris is better kept and so low culturally prepared tourist prefers Paris. But supposing an equal marketing and an equal infrastructure service, Rome would be fairly the most visited city in the World.

Can you please send me information in english on electric bike rentals? I don't think I want a tour, just a rental to go around on my own. Would be interested in renting 2 bikes for day or weekend price.

Don't get fooled. Sarkozy wears constantly elevator shoes that make him look 7 cm (short of 3 inches) taller than he really is. Besides all the tricks he resorts to: walking ahead of other people to look taller in the picture, standing on his toes, etc.

Yes clearly the original poster here is a male and the entire storyline is an invented fantasy for gratuitous purposes, completely and utterly phoney. I have a residence at Cap D'agde and this tale is as fake as it gets

I think people have to stop with these murder fantasies not to say bullshit. I love Daniel Balavoine more than anything but we have to accept the fact that the crash was an accident. Not only do I doubt the pilot (who was prince Albert's cousin) deliberately crashed the helicopter for money or esteem or I-don't-know-what at the peril of his own life and anyway, Soisson I dunno but Mitterrand wouldn't have killed Daniel because they simply got along: they had lunch together several times and Daniel himself said he liked Mitterrand, that he found him very intelligent which proves what you said about him rejecting every politician wrong.

i don't eat meat but eat fish. have really looked into this market. wouldn't touch it ! what's worrying is that many restaurants are serving it under another name ! It's so cheap that they call it fresh fish and charge yoyu a fortune. remember that the !persico' fish is also dangerous. it's a river fish and comes from the nile. just think what goes into the nile !

Went to the Hotelreservations.com web site to make a room reservation. When I confirmed the reservation I noticed an extra fee of $4.95 had been charged. The total was supposed to be $90.74 but with the $4.95 it came to $95.69. Plus there was a second $4.95 fee charged which brought the total to $100.64. I immediately backed out of the reservation as directed on the web site which is supposed to cancel the transaction. Then I called hotelreservations.com to confirm that the reservation did not take place. They said the reservation HAD been made. I cancelled it again. I asked what the $4.95 was for and they claimed the credit card company placed a charge on the transaction. I called my credit card company and they said there were 2 transactions pending. One for $90.74 and one for $4.95 and that the $4.95 wasn’t a credit card charge at all. I called Hotelreservations back and was told that they are actually Hotel.com and that Hotelreservations was an affiliate. I tried another phone number from the Hotelreservations web site and they claimed that they didn’t make the $4.95 charge and blame the charge on the web site Hotelreservations.com which is their web site! I asked to speak with a supervisor. I’ve been on the phone for 25 minutes on this one call alone now and still haven’t resolved this. In total I’ve spent over an hour just trying to cancel these charges. After another long wait the same guy came back on the phone and told me the charge was made by the web site and is non-refundable. Still no supervisor. I ask again for a supervisor. Total time on this one call is now 35 minutes. At 40 minutes he came back on and offered to rebook the reservation and give me a credit for $4.95 but still would not let me talk to a supervisor.

Call the credit card company back to see who is actually making the $4.95 charge. It is Hotelreservations.com. As I said, Hotelreservations denies making this charge and apparently are saying that the web site is separate from the actual company that makes the reservation even though they are the same name etc. Meanwhile the credit card company has not paid the $4.95 fee yet and cannot put a dispute on the transaction until it is actually paid. I don’t know what the deal is with the second $4.95 fee.

Jeez, what is this ??? THis article is simply ridicule, and much too generalizing. It's not all supermarket fishes which pose a problem, but most especially the vietnamese Panga fish. It is indeed bred in Mekong river, in most un-hygenic conditions and should definitely be avoided (Norwegian bred salmon is also to be avoided at all cost, it's crap laden !).
About the panga itself, it is offered in my supermarket starting this week, for the first time ever ! So that's certainly not the most common fish around.

RR, I'm sorry but in France all fresh fishes are sold with origin written on label board. You don't have to be an expert to know what type of fish is offered, as name is always mentioned as well. No need to be an expert, buy fish regularly and you'll know.
About your frozen fish pie, I'm not surprised. Most industrial frozen dishes are crap and should be avoided as well (pizzaz are ok). It's usually full of shit and most of the time has only a very small percentage of meat/fish.
Come on, you don't come to France to buy frozen pies !

Hmm, my French in-laws live in Roanne and I've visited the city and walked around it probably two dozen times but I've never seen this building. I'll have to do more searching when I'm there this summer. Interesting. Check out the town's little alley with the handmade Chapeau/Hat Artisan shop.

Beautiful photos, Pat. I'll be visiting France with 2 friends mid-late May, and was thinking about visiting this chateau; a lot depends on gas prices and what the dollar is doing then (it's not very healthy at the moment). We'll be 3 days in Paris, train to Bordeaux, drive to Lourdes, La Croix-Blanche, Rocamadour & Limoges before heading back home. One of my friends in from Japan, and she says that looking forward to this trip has kept her spirits up. I will believe it when I step off the plan at CDG Airport!

What a pity for Peugeot (or maybe some car dealers) to be involved in such deceptive promotion. There are better auto brands to buy...don't settle with a deal that you are in doubt.

LOL I spotted that this was some woman's fantasy in the first few posts. Sheesh, come on people - she wants to force her son to be nude, she says she does porn, she wants him to learn about his sexuality, she makes him be the only naked person at her house sometimes, and she says she'll give him up for adoption if he doesn't get used to being naked! Open your eyes! lol

I eat this fish on a regular basis,I am still alive and kicking.. I read through the postings above, and was amused at the amount of people that seem to have a problem with determing which fish is being discussed here.It is the one from the Mekong .. not the one from the Indian Ocean near the African coast deary.. lol..although even from there it's still along way off.. How about all the fish imported from other places.. are they also affected..
When I can afford it I will eatnother fish more regulary, untill then bring it on... J

Well, I'm in high school in paris and I'd like to say that, having 8 hrs of class , even 9 a day, is complete bullshit !
At the end of the day, I sometimes don't even remember the morning class content !
And there are homework ! finishing school at 6pm, and adding to that 1 or 2 hrs of homework, how the hell are we supposed to do some sports or play an instrument or whatever ? ? ?
I just get home, work, have dinner, read a bit and sleep (and so on) . that's a life for 16 yrs teenagers ?
Although, we end up high school with some huge knowledge, waaaaaay more then americans !

Jim just became conscious at a young age. When you can see right through people life can become boring pretty fast. Books start it off. First the booze then the drugs and even that gets boring after awhile. When you see how the majority of people are content to work the cubicle all day and braindead the t.v. every night it becomes very lonely to those of us who would prefer to live in reality. Ask anyone who has lived very near a conscious person and you will hear the same stories almost every time.

You can see this manifest if you like. Alice in Chains has a bootleg video on Youtube where Layne (rip brother) beats up on some unconscious turd from the audience. This guy has Nazi tatoos and Layne goes over nice and playful and waves the guy toward him. The guy is scared so Layne goes right in after him and pulls him up on stage. Layne hits him full on the jaw to get his attention and then smiles and just slaps him around the way you might play with a child. He then walks over to the mike and lets everyone know how this poor Nazi wannabe came to the wrong meeting. I think conscious people hate the "tourists" the most.

If you think I'm wrong you can look up "artist dead before their time" and a whole list will present itself. My faves are Jim and Bill Hicks (rip).

I think Jim had just seen enough and it was time for something fresh and new. He saw the world, left some of his art, and walked on down the hall.

You should do a post on Michel-Edouard Leclerc, and his double game of pretending to defend the consumers while strangling farmers with his huge margins.
